Penzion Eva&Tapušík Neighbourhood

Vápenný Podol is located on the border of the Železné hory PLA. Those who love hiking, many beautiful places of pilgrimage are worth seeing, for example, the beautiful castle of Žleby, or the ruins of the castles of Lichnice, Oheb, the dam Seč, Třemošnice, etc. Many of the flooded quarries are an integral part of the surroundings (Borek, Trhová Kamenice , Leštinka), something for divers. Behind the hill is Seč and the surroundings become a very popular place for cycling enthusiasts. In addition, the Sečská Valley Reservoir is also a popular fishermen's bastion. The area is full of forests where mushrooming is possible. There are several hiking and biking trails (Bučina 606 m above sea level) and 912 ha along with the Nerozhovice and Cítkov settlements. The emergence of this village is laid on the turn of the 13th and 14 century. The first written mention of the village is from 1513. The late Baroque church of Sts. Wenceslas. The church was rebuilt in 1716 by Count Jan Špork. In 1874 a clock was built on the newly modified church tower. In 1892, an organ built by the renowned designer Petr from Prague was made to the car. The village is famous for its former spa. The healing spring was already known in 1586. Water had a healing effect on joint, muscle, nervous, eye, liver and stomach diseases. From the 17th to the 19th centuries, a spa with simple ground water was functioning here, as evidenced by the Empire spa house with a commemorative plaque commemorating the composer's stays Ot. Ostrčila. Book by MuDr. John Adam Veit issued in 1725 in Prague under the name 'Thermae Podolenses and novo nesurgentes beato Venceslav votae' proves that the spa was referred to as the 'Spa of Sts. Václava '. On the territory of the village there is one cultural monument - "lime kiln", which is listed in the list of cultural monuments and two small monuments. They are: a memorial to the fallen “victims of I. and II. World War II and a cross built to end the Thirty Years' War. The author of Křížek is Mr. Václav Štech, a former stonemason from Podola. This cross was made by the master at the end of the 19th century as thanks for the end of the famine after the Thirty Years' War. From the front, this text is engraved on this work: "Praise be Jesus Christ". The charming mountain landscape around Vápenná Podola and the ancient spa attracted many distinguished personalities in the past: V. K. Klicpera, J. Vrchlický, S. K. Neumann, O. Ostrčil - composer. Limestone quarries were known more than the spa. Limestone was used to burn lime until 1965. From the late 19th century. old lime kiln, which is a cultural monument, has been preserved. There are two caves in the village: "Páterova" and "Podolská". The entrances to both caves were opened by mining in the pit quarry, which was located behind the back of the western slope of the Podolský stream valley. Despite the fact that the Podolské Cave dates back to 1944, it was known to the locals before the war, but it was not until 1965 that the entrance to Páter's Cave was discovered. The Podolský stream flows through the village, only a few hundred meters above it. The stream makes its way from the Iron Mountains through a deep forest, then flows through Kostelec, Heřmanův Městec to Pardubice flows into the Elbe.
